Template Usage measures what percentage of your messages look very similar or identical to each other.
- Healthy: under 50%
- Caution: 50–70%
- High risk: 70%+ of messages look like templates
#Why it matters
Real people don’t send the same message hundreds of times. High template usage is one of the clearest automation signals.
#How to improve this metric
- Add variation into your messages: different openers, phrasing, and CTAs
- Use liquid variables (name, context, last interaction) to personalize every send
- Rotate between at least 3–5 message frameworks for the same campaign
- Avoid copy-pasting the same message into manual replies

- Write templates as starting points, not final messages
- Train agents to edit and personalize before sending
- Combine this metric with
