# What Are Inbound Links?Inbound Links are smart SMS links that open the Messages app on your customer's phone — pre-addressed to your business number, with an optional pre-filled message. Think of them as a "text us" button you can place anywhere: ads, flyers, QR codes, social media bios, or your website.
When someone taps an Inbound Link, their phone's native messaging app opens with your number already filled in. If you've set a pre-fill message, that text appears in the compose field too — all the customer has to do is hit send.
Your Inbound Links live at short, shareable URLs (e.g. start.msg.new/yourlink) that you can embed anywhere.
# Creating a LinkIn your dashboard, go to Connected Apps → Inbound → Links Click Create Link Fill in the details:Name — A label for your own reference (e.g. "Facebook Ads Campaign")Pre-fill Message — The message that will appear in your customer's compose field when they tap the link (e.g. "Hi! # Tips for Getting the Most Out of Inbound LinksUse clear pre-fill messages — Make it easy for customers to start a conversation. "Hi! I'd like to learn more about [product]" works better than a blank message.Create separate links for each campaign — This lets you track which campaigns drive the most conversations.Use QR codes for physical locations — Print them on menus, receipts, signage, or business cards.Check analytics regularly — Use the referrer and geographic data to understand which channels perform best.Assign multiple numbers to high-traffic links — Distribute the load across your team.
